Thickness Gauges - Australia

We sell and stock Ultrasonic Thickness gauges in Australia. Metal, Plastic, alloys, glass and rubber are some of the common materials our Thickness gauges can test using ultrasonic pulse echo method.

An ultrasonic thickness gauge measures the thickness of most materials. Typically if the material has a consistent composition, it can be tested by a Thickness gauge (UTG or DTG). Testequip supplies a wide range of thickness meters and they are used to measure material thickness such as metal thickness, plastic thickness, rubber thickness plus many more.

The material thickness is measured by transmitting a known ultrasonic pulse frequency, or sound velocity from a 5 MHz transducer through the material and back to the transducer. This is processed and converted to a thickness and displayed on the Thickness tester in mm or inches.

The resolution and functions can vary depending on the unit as some units can measure down to 0.15mm, some up to 300°C surface temperature and some through highly attenuating, dense material like HDPE and rubber. There are different types of transducers that supply differing frequencies and these are dependent on the application. Also depending on the unit selected, data can be stored, transferred to a computer and printed.

The ultrasonic thickness gauges are supplied with a water-based, non-toxic coupling gel that removes the air layer between the surface of the transducer and the material to be tested. Additionally, a calibration test block is integrated in the housing of the thickness tester so that the unit can be calibrated in house for ease of reference and measurement.
